Ludwig

Ludwig is a gentle soul. He is a Chinese pangolin and is 4 years old. He was named after another gentle soul, the Grandpa of the first person who adopted him.

He was rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in the south of Vietnam on June 11 2019. He spent his first few weeks at a rescue centre in Hanoi.

When he was strong enough to travel he was transferred along with a group of 12 Sunda pangolins and 1 other Chinese pangolin to the Save Vietnam’s Wildlife rescue centre.

He is helping us with the important breeding program. Chinese pangolins are very rare in Vietnam - no wild Chinese pangolins have been found in Vietnam in the last 10 years.

Ludwig lives in a naturalistic enclosure, full of tree branches and deep soil and hollow logs which he loves snoozing in (a lot).

Your symbolic animal adoption will help to provide the essential care for the pangolins at the SVW Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. It takes time to rehabilitate rescued pangolins to be ready for release back into the wild and many of the pangolins can never be released due to the injuries they have suffered as the victims of the illegal wildlife trade.
