WATER 4 WILDLIFE - AFRICA - FUNDRAISING DINNER
Join us on a trip to Africa . . . well, as close as we can get right now. We are hosting a ***VERY SPECIAL AFRICAN NIGHT***
What are we raising funds for?
With climatic change making times of drought longer and more frequent, vital water sources are drying out and our planet’s wildlife is facing huge challenges as a result.
At Animal Works we are spearheading an initiative — “Water 4 Wildlife” — to place permanent waterholes in key habitats in Africa (other countries to follow) using bores and solar pumps to access subterranean water. Which will allow wildlife to drink and bathe.
From this fundraising dinner we would like to raise the funds for two pumps. Each pump costs around $10,000, depending on the depth needed to reach water.
Join us for a fun-filled night where we bring the safari to you . . .
SAVING THE PLANET’S MOST TRAFFICKED MAMMAL
The pangolin is the most illegally trafficked mammal in the world. They are critically endangered. Every year, approximately 100,000 pangolins are poached from the wild to supply the illegal trade in their scales - which are used for traditional medicine, and their meat - which is considered a delicacy.
Because of this, pangolins could disappear before most of the world has even heard of them. But this doesn’t have to happen. We still have time to change this.
Animal Works have partnered with Save Vietnam’s Wildlife to purchase a rescue vehicle for their Pangolin Rescue and Rehabilitation Programme, and provide ongoing funding for the care of the pangolins - veterinary supplies and food.
We held a Fundraising Dinner ‘Party For Pangolins’ to raise the funds to purchase the rescue vehicle. Take a look.
We are working with Taronga Zoo’s nutritionist, Michelle Shaw to create an ongoing Pangolin Food Bank. It costs $1 a day to feed a pangolin.
