Robert
Robert is our adventurer. He is a Chinese pangolin and is 5 years old. He was named by the first person who adopted him.
He was rescued from the illegal wildlife trade on December 26 2019. For a while he lived at the Save Vietnam’s Wildlife rescue centre in Pù Mát National Park, in Vietnam's North Central Coast region, until he was strong enough to be moved.
Then he was transferred to SVW’s main rescue centre so he can help us with the important breeding program. Chinese pangolins are very rare in Vietnam - no wild Chinese pangolins have been found in Vietnam in the last 10 years.
Robert lives in a naturalistic enclosure, where he always seems to be busy scampering about. He likes his food and so can often be found rooting around in the soil looking for a treat. When he has worn himself out he likes to sleep in one of the hollow tree logs in his enclosure.
Your symbolic animal adoption will help to provide the essential care for the pangolins at the SVW Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. It takes time to rehabilitate rescued pangolins to be ready for release back into the wild and many of the pangolins can never be released due to the injuries they have suffered as the victims of the illegal wildlife trade.
