Shui

Shui is a cheeky little character. He is a Chinese pangolin and is 2 years old. He was named by the first person who adopted him.

Shui is the Chinese word for water. Water is precious, water is life. We need Shui and all other pangolins, just like we need water and it is important that the world realises this before it is too late. Pangolins are vital for the planet, like water. A strong Chinese word for a strong a Chinese pangolin.

He was born at the Save Vietnam’s Wildlife rescue centre on September 17 2019. He is the first Chinese pangolin born in captivity at SVW. Which is very exciting because they are so endangered - no wild Chinese pangolins have been found in Vietnam in the last 10 years.

Shui lives in a naturalistic enclosure at the Save Vietnam’s Wildlife rescue center in Hanoi. He spends his days busily climbing branches, burrowing in the deep soil looking for treats or snuggling up in the hollow tree logs.

Your symbolic animal adoption will help to provide the essential care for the pangolins at the SVW Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. It takes time to rehabilitate rescued pangolins to be ready for release back into the wild and many of the pangolins can never be released due to the injuries they have suffered as the victims of the illegal wildlife trade.
